Special Needs Piano Lessons

special needs lessons neurodivergent . the many faces of special needs

'It takes one to know one!'

At school, despite academic success, the only thing I was really interested in was music.
Everything else seemed difficult, overwhelming, and challenging.

Bright lights, group environments and multitasking all seemed like mountains to overcome, and yet playing viola in orchestras, singing in choirs and playing piano was my great escape, and came so easily to me.

It was only after getting a brain scan as an adult did I discover that these were symptoms of being neurodivergent.

As an adult neurodivergent, I can relate to the experiences, challenges (but also unique abilities) that neurodivergent children and adults have on a daily basis.

Following one-on-one training at a local special needs school in Melbourne, in 2021, I began teaching neurodivergent children and adults - including those with autism, vision impairment, and attention issues (ADD, ADHD).

Teaching music to special needs children and adults is a passion of mine, and it is a joy to see my students grow in their ability and their love of music.
